New York City's East 4th Street between 2nd Avenue and Bowery is home to many independent
theaters and cultural groups. In an improvement effort, the Fourth Arts Block commissioned
Starr Whitehouse Landscape Architects and Planners to plan a public participation process that
would result in positive changes to the block, without losing its character.

Materials were prepared for these interactive public participation meetings, and the results
were gathered the results in this book, Revisioning East Fourth.
